April Matovich, pianist, started studying the piano in 2004, and has been teaching private students since 2012. April often performs as entertainment at events, solo accompaniment for recitals, background for weddings and funerals, and in her church. In 2007 she won 1st place in a solo competition, and in 2011 she was the Grand Prize winner of a piano competition sponsored by the American Guild of Organists, Denver Chapter and was awarded with 12 weeks of pipe organ study. April has also had the privilege of being her church pianist, a fill-in pianist for other churches in Colorado, and performing as an accompanist for solo, ensemble, and voice competitions within the Colorado Springs area. In 2016 she was the rehearsal/orchestra pit pianist for Forestgate Community Theatre’s production of the Broadway musical “Mary Poppins”. Also in 2016 April started working with public and private schools in the area as a choir accompanist. In 2017 she was one of the accompanists who played at a School District 20 choir event at the Pikes Center for the Performing Arts. April is enthusiastic about teaching a good foundation of theory and technique, and especially loves introducing students, and others, to the beautiful world of music.
